Following the release of our new Climate Declaration, we caught up with Festival Organiser Penny Peart to hear more about the new-look (and new ethos) NFEST Café…

Picture the scene – the sun is out, the bands are paying, but something’s wrong. You’re feeling peckish! What do you do?

Well one option this year will be our NFEST Café – located in the Village Hall, just a stone’s throw from the marquee – the perfect pit stop for a refreshing drink and a delicious slice of homemade cake!

And what’s more, this year when you visit you know you’ll be making better choices that can help the planet.

“This year, in accordance with our Climate Declaration, we have removed all single use plastic from the Café” explains lead volunteer Penny.

“We’ve taken out the plastic cutlery and will only use sustainably sourced products – we’ve tried to consider all environmental aspects of our stock – even even down to selling crisps! Every empty crisp packet we can collect will be sent to the project, where it will be turned into a foil blanket for people experiencing homelessness.”

What’s more, the Café will help music lovers to ditch the single use cup for hot beverages.

“If you buy a reusable travel mug from us (at a cost of £2.50), the first cup of coffee or tea is free” confirms Penny.

Bakers! We want your cakes!

We are delighted and grateful that Morrisons and Greggs are supporting us again this year with donated stock – but what we love even more are the amazing cakes kindly donated by local festival goers.

So if you would like to donate a cake for the Café, please bring your baked treats to the Village hall on Saturday morning. Or if you cannot make this, give us a bell and we will happy to collect from you.

We bet that you’d look great in an apron….

The NFEST Café runs on two things CAKES and VOLUNTEERS!

We’d love to hear from anyone able to spare a couple of hours on Saturday from 12noon to help us run the Café.

You’ll have great fun, you can still enjoy the festival before and after you shift and you’ll be doing something amazing to help raise the funds we need to keep the village hall open and thriving for our community all year round!

Please send us a quick email with your name, phone number and times you are available if you’d like to help out on the day.
